Every interview, captured. Re-watch with your team.

Recordings capture code edits, terminal output, test results, and scores. Play back the entire session at any speed after the interview ends. Share with teammates who were not in the room.

Use cases

When this feature earns its keep.

Three concrete patterns. Use them as templates for your own setup.

Replay a borderline submission with your hiring panel

Share the workspace link after the interview. Teammates who were not present watch the replay and form an independent view before the debrief. No one is anchored to the live interviewer notes.

Calibrate scoring across your team

Use recordings from past interviews to align on what a "passes correctness" score looks like versus "exceeds". Watching the same session with fresh eyes surfaces scoring drift quickly.

Audit an interview if a candidate disputes the outcome

The recording is timestamped and immutable after the session ends. If a dispute arises, the recording shows exactly what was typed, when, and what output it produced.

Setup

How the setup looks.

Recording is on by default for every interview workspace. There is nothing to enable. The recording starts when the first participant joins and ends when the workspace is closed or the session is explicitly stopped.

Same workspace, same auth, same collaboration features as every other Typelets workspace. See all features

  1. Create an interview workspace

Recording applies to workspaces created as interview sessions. It is on by default. You can toggle it off in workspace settings before the session starts if you do not want a record.

  2. Conduct the interview normally

The recording runs in the background. Every edit, run, test result, and score update is captured without any action required from the interviewer or candidate.

  3. Find the recording in the workspace after the session

Open the workspace from your dashboard after the interview. The Replay tab shows the full session. Click any timestamp to jump to that moment in the code and terminal history.

  4. Share the workspace link with reviewers

Reviewers who have access to the workspace can open the replay themselves. They do not need to have been part of the live session.

FAQ

How long are recordings kept?
Recordings are kept as long as the workspace exists. Deleting the workspace deletes the recording. There is no separate recording expiry during beta.
Can a candidate see their own recording?
Guests (candidates who joined via a share link) cannot access the workspace after the session unless the owner shares it with them explicitly. The recording is not sent to the candidate automatically.
Can I export the recording as a video file?
Video export (MP4) is on the roadmap but not available during beta. The replay is accessible through the workspace interface. Reach out if video export is a hard requirement for your workflow.
What if recording is toggled off? Does the candidate know?
If recording is off, neither participant sees a recording indicator. There is no requirement to notify the candidate, but your company's privacy policy may require disclosure. That is a legal question for your team, not a technical constraint from Typelets.
